What Happened When Jennifer Garner's Kids Said "You Don't Take Us to Church" is Pretty Darn Amazing - For Every Mom

What Happened When Jennifer Garner's Kids Said "You Don't Take Us to Church" is Pretty Darn Amazing

Jennifer Garner explains how her new movie brought her and her kids back to church after a really hard year and her divorce from Ben Affleck.

Jennifer Garner may have grown up in church, but she admits it's a habit that has fallen by the wayside since she got to Hollywood. However, her new lead role in the movie "Miracles From Heaven" is bringing her back to her roots.

"I grew up going to church every Sunday of my life, and when I did move to L.A., it wasn't something that was just part of the culture in the same way, at least in my life," Garner said after the movie's premiere on Sunday. "But it didn't mean that I lost who I was."

She was raised in the faith, but her family was never very vocal about it—and once she hit Tinseltown, the idea of speaking about God was even further silenced.

"It's made me really look at my town of Los Angeles and realize we don't talk about faith," said Garner. "It is not a conversation that we have between takes on set. On this movie it was."

"If you're a person of faith, you are so on the outside that there's no way to bridge to somebody that's normal," she added.

That's what Garner loves most about this new movie. It's enabled her to speak openly about her faith and connect more closely with the "normal" people in Christian America, which is a culture so far removed from the political aura of Hollywood. It's truly been a breath of fresh air for the actress.

"There was something about doing this film and talking to my kids about it and realizing that they were looking for the structure of church every Sunday," said Garner. "So it was a great gift of this film that it took us back to finding our local Methodist church and going every Sunday. It's really sweet."

Garner admitted, "I was talking to my kids about the movie, and they said 'Mom, you don't take us to church.'"

It was something that hit her hard. Sometimes the boldest truth comes out of the mouths of babes.
"We went that Sunday," she replied immediately, "and they went today without me."

"That decision, that was a direct gift from this movie, so for that I'm very grateful," she told the press.

"Miracles From Heaven" is coming to theaters on March 16th, and we can't WAIT to see the powerful film that revived Garner's faith life. Watch the official trailer below.
